Assume Positive Intent

"I can't believe anyone would do something so stupid!" How quick and automatic is the leap from believing in someone one minute to flying off the handle in anger the next when someone does something so contrary to our expectations!

When we immediately start to rant in frustration over someone else's action or decision without the benefit of understanding the why behind their motivation, then our reaction says a lot more about us than it does about them.

According to a new study in the International Journal of Psychology, the effects of anger can last 7 days. If being disappointed by others actions immediately makes you see red, then imagine the cumulative affect on your attitude and therefore, on your organization, if you are always at some point on the continuum of getting angry to staying angry to getting over being angry - about something that might not be based on reality!

The next time something happens that you didn't expect or wouldn't have done, stop and ask yourself these five questions before rushing to judge someone's negative intentions:

1. How do I know that the person's intention was bad?

Chances are you're making assumptions and so, are overlooking the possibility that the other person could have had more or different information or another interpretation and based his or her decision to act accordingly.

2. Is my concern self-focused?

Like the father of the family in the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" who lamented, "Why is this happening to me?" every time something didn't go as planned, you are likely more worried about how you will be personally affected by what the other person did more than any real negative consequences to the organization.

3. Were my expectations clear?

No one should be expected to presume to know what you want or when you want it to be done.

4. Could it have been a mistake?

There's an old saying, "If the learner hasn't learned, then the teacher hasn't taught." Someone who is learning or doing something for the first time isn't trying to mess up on purpose!

5. Why am I so angry?

That's really the "$64,000 question." You might need help exploring the reasons behind your outrage and learning how to better control your emotions.

It's a leader's job to gain followers by inspiring confidence. People are so complex, and so different - moved by different motives, controlled by different circumstances, and influenced by different experiences. Before you think the worst, find out the facts, and assume positive intent in the meantime. Most people are doing what they think is best for the right reasons. Assuming that will take you a long way.

Fooling Modern Day Christians - Fake Christian Teachers

When I went to church, I would often see people raising their hands, standing up, singing passionately, praising the Lord and some of them, sometimes would even get a little out of hand, with their excitement. I was watching a Christian show on TV and I will leave out the pastors name but it rhymed with Skeeter top off. This Christian teacher was amazing, to say the least.

When I said I was watching a Christian show, this was almost like watching a cross between a documentary and the circus. This guy would stand up on stage and start to become magnetically pulled towards one of the people in the audience. Once he got closer to the person he would start to tell them, what was wrong. The closer he got to his prey, the more excited they both would become as he started laying it on them.

This man would convince them that he knew, what was wrong with them, some of the problems in their life, health related issues and physical handicaps. While watching these shows, I would often pinch myself, go look at the calendar, and verify that I was in the 20th century and didn't go back in time somehow. Later on, this man was caught, but I don't know if he ever had to spend time in jail or prison. I mean that's not that big of a deal, fooling thousands of people and making them believe something that isn't true,... right. Would this be considered a con artist?

Here's how the scam went down. As people would enter this place of worship, they would write down all of their problems on a card and place it in a container or hand it to a trusted Christian usher. After the people were seated, someone would take the cards to a person hidden behind the scenes, this person would direct the Christian teacher towards the people with the problems in the audience.

The Christian teacher had a hidden earpiece and this made him look like he was psychic. This man was a hero to thousands and seen as a divine healer like Jesus Christ. He had fooled plenty of people and I often wonder, how many people were actually healed, just by the belief that someone with extraordinary powers had just healed them.

The mind is extremely powerful and can believe whatever it chooses to. The more you feed the mind, information that you choose to believe in, the stronger these beliefs will actually get. If you don't believe this, start asking someone who beliefs in Christianity, Hinduism, Islam or other religions around the world, why they believe and would it be possible for them to change their religious views. Think about it, most people are passionate about their religious choices.

52 Ways to Live a Better Life by Shadonna Richards

Infinity Publishing (2009)

ISBN 9780741451675

Shadonna Richards, a Canadian registered nurse, freelance writer and former newspaper columnist, has put together a simple but concise book on how to live a better life. As a nurse working with terminally ill cancer patients, who are told they have only six months to live, she was inspired to write empowering words of wisdom. Richards also interviewed many individuals for her newspaper columns, thus compiling inspirational stories to encourage us to look at our own lives, makes changes as necessary, and to live a fulfilled life. Although her resources are Canadian, the concept of her book is global and I'm sure readers will find similar resources in their respective countries and areas.

"A Gift of Hope" is designed to be used as a workbook, with each week having an exercise to be done daily. For example, the first week starts with "Stay Mentally Fit." The text talks about the stresses in our lives and then gives exercises. The first exercise for the first week is to "Identify, then rectify." Richards says "A crucial part of any solution is locating the problem. Do worries keep you up at night? Go directly to the source of your tension." The second exercise for the first week is "Detox Your Mind." Richards says "We always have a choice. We can choose to dwell on being hopeless in situations or dwell on having hope."

The second week covers "Dare to Dream: Believe that Anything is Possible" and captures president-elect Barrack Obama's "Yes We Can" powerful slogan. Using his story and his dreams, Richards iterates that our dreams can become reality if we persist and believe.

Other weeks cover topics like: Understand That Money Isn't Everything, Reach out to those in Need, and Be the Friend You Desire to Have. For the purpose of this review I didn't have the opportunity to test the system for a full 52 weeks; however, being a student and teacher of transformation, I know it works. Shadonna Richards has provided a book, "A Gift of Hope," to take us to a higher level of consciousness, a place where we can manage our personal lives with ease and contentment.

Caring For Loving People

A Choiceful State of Being

Julia Cameron in her world famous book The Artist's Way writes about, and for, blocked creatives. That describes not just the writers and artists for whom she initially intended her book, but all of us at one time or another. Being blocked is a fearful state of being.

What keeps us blocked and unable to find creative solutions to our challenges is being in this fearful state. It's like a catch 22 - you can't find solutions to your problems because your problems keep you in a state of fear where you can't find solutions to your problems. As I've written before, when you are experiencing fear you are accessing a portion of your brain called the Reptilian Brain.

This part of our brain is the first brain we had in our evolvement and we still have it for a good reason. It allowed us to survive back in the days of dinosaurs and still serves us in our modern day survival.

To this part of our brain everything is either something to flee from or something to fight. Either fight or run. Notice that there is not an array of choices here. In today's world this translates into the form of the threat usually being a person, rather than a dinosaur. We still react the same by either wanting to fight or run away. Now, however, the fighting may be verbal and the flight may take the form of avoidance.

Luckily for us our brains evolved and we now have additional portions of our brain which we can utilize. The cerebral part of our brain is one of these "new" areas and is where we get creative.

It's where we visualize, create, and and are able to find new opportunities as we "see" choices and solutions.

Using our cerebral brain puts us in a choiceful state of being.

When we move our awareness out of the Reptilian part of our brain and into the cerebral cortex we begin to find choices that are far better than the limitation of only fight or flight. We begin to see choices that lead to collaboration, win/win solutions, harmonious relationships, and most importantly, peace.

Sounds great, doesn't it? But when your consciousness is in the limitation of the fear based Reptilian brain, how do you move it into the creative cerebral cortex? It's quite simple, actually.

Visualization
When you visualize you are automatically moving your awareness out of the Reptilian brain and into the cerebral cortex, activating this creative portion of your brain. Any form of visualization will work. Here's a few suggestions:
  • Draw a diagram or mind map of the situation. Begin with diagramming the issue and as you work with it and your awareness moves into your cerebral brain, you'll begin to see alternatives and choices. Include them in your diagram or map.
  • Close your eyes and envision the situation as if it is on a stage and you are the director. As you are watching the players - including yourself as the star - how might you make changes to the plot for an equitable outcome?
  • Use a visual tool such as a Tarot card. Select a card at random from the deck and describe what's happening in the picture on the card. What are the choices the people on the card have in regards to their situation? How does this relate to your situation?

Living in a choiceful state of being gives you and everyone around you the gift of living in harmony rather than conflict, collaboration rather than competition, and inevitably, peace.

Is 2012 Really the End of the World?

Maybe just the end of the world as we know it. No, the world is not going to implode or explode or be completely destroyed in any form for that matter. 2012 is a new beginning, not an end.

There has been so much said about all this, from the bible, from Nostradamus, from Edgar Cayce, from the Mayans. In 2012 we will truly be able to experience heaven on earth. For some, this has already started. We are already feeling these changes. There are many people on this earth who have Ascended from the 3D reality to the 5th Dimension reality already. The Earth herself has ascended from 3D to 5D. In 5D time and space are different, they do not exist in the same way as they do in 3D. This is why so many people are having experiences outside what the "norm" has been the past few thousand years.

Some people think the financial meltdowns etc. are really bad news. It is just a change, different things going on, it doesn't have to be bad news. Everything is perception. A lot of people are being forced to change the way they have been thinking, or the way they have been doing things. So much of the world's issues right now are related to the old 3D ways crumbling. It is a new beginning, not an ending.

Jesus (or whatever Ascended Master you relate to based on your religion or lack thereof), IS coming. It is the Christ Consciousness in us all. Jesus "the man" is not going to just show up one day to save us. Its not quite like that. The consciousness of Jesus will show up for us all as soon as we realize that we have access to it. It is your own greatness, your own Christ Consciousness that will save you. Your realization that you are God. We ourselves are the second coming.

What makes things so hard is the separation from the divine light and love of all that is. For many years people have turned to religion, or leaders that tell us that things are outside of ourselves. Those in perceived power don't want us to know that the power of EVERYTHING is within us. We are all one.

The talk of hellfire and hell coming to earth for those that do not accept Jesus into their lives is true in some ways, but not in the literal sense that some organized religions would have you believe. It has to do with those that accept they are the creators themselves. Those that can see and feel their own greatness will truly be creating a heaven on earth for themselves and those around them.

Those that rely on (or "worship"), things from the 3D reality -- money and ego and external power -- truly will be in a hell on earth. Earth and her energy is changing, has already changed. We, as a species, are learning that we can create whatever we want here. It has very little to do with ego and power. There are many on the earth right now who are here to help with this transition. Many lightworkers who are ascending and "getting it" are here to help you. Many are actually devoting their lives to helping others remember where they came from and what divine beings they are. The first wave of Ascension is over. There are many Masters on this plane of our planet right now. Willing to help you to realize you don't have to stay stuck in 3D any more. Many people think Jesus is a saviour, as in separate from you, that will come and rescue you from your life, your existence, yourself, your perceived sins. God is not going to "make people go to hell". What kind of loving God would actually make people go to hell? If all one does is worship money, control or power they WILL likely end up in their own hell. This will be their own doing (or undoing) though. It will not be something that is done TO them.

Look at how things are right now. The world financial crisis is HUGE. Anyone who is very centred in, or worships, money or power at this point in time is RIGHT NOW in their own personal HELL. God certainly isn't putting them there. It is their perception of their time on earth that is putting them there.

Those that are suffering right now just need to look inside themselves, at the Christ Consciousness, at the God in THEM. Hanging onto the old 3D reality and the worship of external things like money or power or ego is what is causing them suffering. The always wanting more is causing suffering. There is enough on this earth for everyone. Some say they don't believe that...I've had people tell me to my face that I'm full of you know what just for suggesting such a thing.

The reality of it though....at least MY reality of it is that there is enough for all. If we take the greed, the control, the lusting for external power away, there is enough.

All through the bible it states that God is in all of us. Therefore, Love is in all of us.

Religions made the devil up to scare the heck out of people. There were, and still are, those that do not want you to know your own greatness. They don't want you to know what they know. If everyone knew, there would be balance. No one would be better than, or richer than. Everyone would just "Be".

Religions say the devil "fell from grace" because he wanted to be God-like. What better way to make people shun their own greatness, their own connection with God. Scare the crap out of them so that when they start to realize their own greatness, and that they are not just a "part of Source (God)", but that they are indeed Source (God) themselves, the creators of their own lives and spiritual journeys, they get afraid and experience more separation. As soon as people realize their greatness, no one will be able to control them. That is very scary for those that think they have the power over the masses.

We are all God-like. We are all creators, God is Love, we are all a part of God. This scares a lot of people and there are certain governments and religions that don't want people to know this, so they make up stuff like the devil or demons to scare people. They don't want the general population to realize their power, they would lose their own place in society; in the 3D reality they have created for themselves. Imagine if everyone knew just how much like God we are, how much a part of God we are.....no one could control us anymore. No one would have the power to "make" us fearful. God is Love.....the "devil" is fear.

So, is 2012 the end of the world? I certainly hope it is the end of the world as we have known it up to this point.

Do not fear the changes, embrace them. Connect with Source in your own way. Find and connect with your own internal Christ Consciousness, your own greatness.

When things are done with Love and not fear, nothing but God and Love can shine through.

There are many things going on. Being a psychic lightworker myself (for lack of a better term), I know that what I see and do, anyone can see and do. The biggest challenge is to KNOW that you can do it. It is just a matter of being open to it and having the realization that we are all Source.

Remember where you came from, remember your divinity. Connect with your own Christ Consciousness. Experience the bliss every day, feel the love every day. Live with Love not Fear of what is going on on our earth. Its all good...

The Jewish Menorah - A History

The menorah is a seven branched candelabra which has come to represent the Jewish People and Israel. Its origins directly derive from the Torah and its symbolism has proven to be long lasting.

Early coins and pottery containing images of the menorah and dating back to biblical times have been recovered from archaeological sites.

The first menorah was originally made for the tabernacle and later placed in the first and second temples. The Torah records how the great artist, Bezalel, fashioned the menorah in accordance to detailed Divine instructions. These instructions are recorded in Exodus 25:31-40, see excerpt below:

"31 And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the candlestick be made, even its base, and its shaft; its cups, its knops, and its flowers, shall be of one piece with it. 32 And there shall be six branches going out of the sides thereof: three branches of the candlestick out of the one side thereof, and three branches of the candle-stick out of the other side thereof..."

Listed below are some of the facets of the menorah:

- (as stated above) it was hewn out of a single block of pure gold

- it weighed approximately 150 pounds and just under 5 ft in height

- it had seven branches; a middle branch and three branches extending from each side

- according to Maimonides and Rashi, the side-branches extended from the middle branch in a diagonal line, not in a semi-circular arc as most drawings depict

- extra pure olive oil was used in the cups - gently pressed, not crushed and just the first emerging drops were considered pure enough

- it was positioned beside the southern wall of the temple, opposite the 'shulchan', the table which held the twelve show-breads.

The daily maintenance and lighting of the menorah was a task allocated to the Kohanim (priests). Interestingly, although only the Kohanim were permitted to prepare the menorah, there were no restrictions as to who could light it.

It is written that one branch of the menorah miraculously stayed alight continuously. Synagogues today have a 'ner tamid' (everlasting light) situated opposite the ark, which contains the Torah scrolls. This reminds us of the significance of the menorah during temple times. In addition many synagogues also display a menorah, or an artistic impression of one, in painted decorations or on stained glass windows.

After the fall of the Second Temple, Jewish historian Flavius Josephus recorded that the menorah was taken to Rome and carried along during the triumphant homecoming parade. A depiction of this event is preserved on the Arch of Titus that still stands today in Rome.

During the Jewish festival of Chanukah a menorah is lit on each of the eight nights. This menorah differs from the temple's menorah in that it has nine branches instead of seven.

The location of the original menorah is unknown today but the symbolism lives on; the national emblem of the State of Israel is a menorah, flanked by two olive branches.

The author of this article researched the origins of the menorah during the development of a range of Judaic themed homeware. http://www.judaicamosaica.com

What If You Couldn't Fail - Read This

What would your life be like, if you knew for a fact that you couldn't fail. When you seen the man or woman of your dreams, would you approach them and asked them out for a date, or would you wait for someone better. If you always wanted to climb Mount Everest, now is your chance.

If I told you, that you won't fail at everything that you do, will this inspire you to try a more things. If you knew that you weren't going to fail at everything, would climbing Mount Everest still be one of your goals. The fear of failure, keeps most people from doing things and often leads to a life of uncompleted dreams. Don't die with your music still in you or let fear control your life.

How many times has fear stopped you from doing something? Maybe you always wanted to be in the limelight, living your life as a movie actor or actress but your friends and family told you that it is impossible and would be a waste of your time. Why do we listen to and gather our inspiration from people that aren't living their dreams. It's never a waste of time to try. Just what you have,... what if you were successful, think about.

We should start listening to people that have attained the life of their dreams. These are the people that will inspire us. These people have failed and succeeded, failure to some people are looked at as lessons, an education that provides them with inspiration to try again, maybe a different way. Success brings financial rewards to some and rewards of a different kind to others.

Don't let failure stand in your way. There is a very good chance that you will fail at some of the things in your life. Look at these as lessons and keep trying. You've probably heard the old saying that Thomas Edison tried 2000 different ways to invent the lightbulb but only needed one to be successful.

Your success could be right around the corner, keep trying, keep educating yourself and never give up, never ever quit.

Trent the Racing Turtle by Bill Franklin - Book Review

"Trent the Racing Turtle" is about a turtle named Trent who has wheels instead of feet. He likes the wheels because he can go really fast. He has two best friends that he has all sorts of adventures with; they are Jesse and Mina. One day, Jesse got Trent into a race against Vane, an evil treasure hunter. He was also the commander of the Scorchies, who are little red creatures who do not listen very well (just like me!). The winner of the race gets the golden Isols statue.

Mina's uncle once worked with Vane and knew that one day Vane would find the third Isols statue. If Vane won the race, he would melt all of the gold and make himself more jewelry. He was trying to get rid of Trent so that Trent couldn't race by having the Scorchies build a monstrous racing machine. Mina's uncle told stories to help give them guidance.

Trent won the race and saved everyone from the bad guy. The end of the book made me look forward to more books with these characters. The only two things that need to be fixed a little is the way the book is typed because it doesn't look like a real book. It looks like something just printed off a computer. There is no space when a new chapter starts. Also, the cover is cute but it looks like it could be for a little kid's book and this is a book for big kids.

I liked "Trent the Racing Turtle," by Bill Franklin, a lot and Trent and his wheels were fun to read about.

Talking Shop With a Yoga Master

I was born in Bombay to a family of lawyers.I started my yoga training with BKS Iyengar at age 7 and by age 22 I was the youngest student to earn an Advanced Teacher Training Certificate. As a child I was taught the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother of Pondicherry, both of whom are my spiritual teachers, along with my wife Mirra, who teaches Purna Yoga Meditation. I became a lawyer, certified naturopath, Ayurvedic practitioner, and a body worker.Mirra and I co-direct our studio, Yoga Centers, in Bellevue, WA, and I run a food company called Eastern Essence Organic Whole Foods.

I am often asked what it was like studying with Mr. Iyengar as a child. It was very intense. Iyengar is a very strict teacher-though not as strict now as he was then!Since I wasn't exactly born supple, I had to work really hard to get the movement he wanted. But he was more than just a teacher to me, he was also a friend. He would come over to our house, and we'd have breakfast and lunch and all that.Often he would stay at our house when he came to teach in Bombay many weekends. So we got to know the other side of him, which is one of the major reasons my family stayed with yoga.Had we only known him as the powerful teacher, we may not have continued, because his other side is very beautiful-gentle, sweet, childlike, full of fun, and loves adventure. Obviously my asana teaching is based on the Iyengar method.

I have a very firm belief that yoga is very vast. I cannot say this is my yoga and that is your yoga, because I believe that yoga is so big that we all have to share what we know.I believe that the blending of knowledge is very important without losing the essence of what you are teaching.I can't teach Ashtanga: I can't teach Viniyoga. But I can learn from them and see what is appropriate in my system. So that's what I do; I teach mostly physical yoga in the Iyengar method and the internal yoga is based on my wife Mirra's meditation teaching and Sri Aurobindo and the Mother's teachings.

A consistent question I get is how I find time for my own practice with such a busy schedule. There is just no option. Every morning I get up, do my basic rituals, and then go and practice.Practice is the first thing I do.If I miss the practice in the morning, I never practice! So it just goes without saying:I always do my practice first thing in the morning. People often ask me how my background in so many vocations affects my teaching. It really helps to have experience in different fields. Then, when you are teaching, you can tap into the different experiences and use language that resonates with different people. For example, one of my greatest loves is poetry-and I'm talking about classical, gorgeous, romantic poetry from Browning, Milton, Keats, Byron.

And when I quote these, it makes a huge difference in class. Similarly, if I use a legal term or an anatomical term, it resonates with certain people, and it makes the class richer. The best advice I can offer beginning yoga students is to find a teacher who truly knows the subject, which can be a tough thing because if you are a new student, you don't know if your teacher knows the subject. This is the main pitfall and the main joy of being a beginning student in yoga. It's a time to explore and find somebody who truly knows their job.And then stick with that teacher for a good five to ten years. And then, of course, yoga becomes one's life-long journey to internal revelation.

Overcoming Difficulties Talking

Building Positive Relationships at Work to Reduce Workplace Stress

I've always been impressed by the work of Martin Seligman, a former president of the American Psychological Association, and the major driving force behind the theory of positive thinking. In his early career, Martin developed the concept of learned helplessness and the referent group was individuals with intellectual disabilities. If people are in a passive state all of the time, they develop a dependency relationship, and learn to be helpless. Of course, this is no good for them and their independent living, and it is no good for people who care for them.

If one adopts positive thinking as their model for personal and work relationships, one is able to develop a much more optimistic view of life and perhaps achieve what Seligman calls authentic happiness. If you have positive emotions, if you are optimistic, if you expect good outcomes, if you are a glass half-full person, if you strive to get as much satisfaction from your day-to-day life as you can, you'll be happy, mentally healthy, and probably more successful.

So my lesson is this, to start building positive relationships at work, start on your own attitudes. Smile more often, be prepared to laugh and enjoy the funny side of things, don't become obsessed with small details, be optimistic, be friendly with people, make all your interactions positive and stress-free, engage with others, and contribute spontaneously. I know this sounds like a tall order, but it's really not when you think about it. It doesn't take much to be happy and positive.

The problem of course is other people. If they are mean-spirited, negative, withdrawn, and cynical it's hard to maintain your positive outlook. I always tell people in therapy, if your life and feelings can be moderated by the authority you give to other people, you'll never be in control of your own life. Don't let other people spoil your feelings of goodwill. Start by being positive yourself and not only will you develop positive, healthy, and mutually satisfying relationships at work, you'll manage and reduce your workplace stress and be a much happier individual altogether. So, start smiling now!

Tips to Organize the Bathroom Using New Vanity Styles and Medicine Cabinets

Suddenly you face the abundance of stuff accumulated in your bathroom and with fresh energy attack the project. Whoa! Take a deep breath and learn about style and storage trends as they relate to today's bathrooms. New vanity and medicine cabinet designs unite form and function with beautiful, functional options.

In a continuation of the tendency to add our personality to our home spaces, the bathroom emerges with stylish cabinetry designed from the inside out and a more furniture-like appearance. Instead of the box that has been the mainstay in bathrooms for decades; new solutions which express and relate to furniture throughout the home abound and include improved storage too. It's the difference between wall-to-wall cabinetry, and furniture or storage pieces that are freestanding. For example, in the dining room, it's the difference between built-in storage on the wall and a hutch or in the kitchen, a freestanding island.

Some years ago consumers began sourcing antiques for use as vanities. Requiring extensive modification for plumbing, these pieces were also unsuited to a wet location. Soon, the plumbing industry recognized an opportunity and quickly offered numerous styles, wood finishes and sizes of cabinets. The designs also share a common purpose to organize the abundance of personal grooming products, present a clean visual appearance and maintain the bathroom as a retreat and refuge.

Mirrored cabinets, inside and out, extend the medicine cabinet use. Products are readily seen and the large reflected surface permits easy grooming for men and women. Another feature is a small magnifying mirror that is adjustable. Applying makeup, eyeliner and blush is more accurate using this add-on. Some manufacturers offer integrated electrical outlets for the proliferation of electronics like hairdryers, curling irons, electric razors and electric toothbrushes. This source of power can also be used to charge cell phones.

Use these five tips to organize the clutter in your bathrooms:

1. Using two empty containers for sorting and proceed to remove everything from cabinet shelves and vanity drawers. One container is for disposal; the other for items that stay.

2. Eliminate duplicates, makeup and perfume samples, dated prescriptions, almost empty toothpaste, hair products, and such. Place old and used items in the disposal box; keep only the items used daily in the second box.

3. Consider his and her drawer organizers for nail products, hair and makeup brushes.

4. Under the sink, separate cleaning products from towels, toilet paper and extra shampoo or soap.

5. Remember, "When in doubt, throw it out!"

A Revolutionary Sport That is Fast Capturing the World's Imagination

Never before in the history of mankind has one sport captured the imagination of people of all age groups. The adults love it and the children simply can't get enough of it. It doesn't matter whether you are a male or a female, once you have played this sport you will simply keep on coming back to it. This sport is the sport of paintball. The paintball games are fast becoming the most loved sport all over the world. Paintballing has transcended all the cultures, races, religions and regions and is now one of the most feverishly played and followed game.

In paintballing two teams try to eliminate the players of each others teams by hitting them with the balls made up of paint like substance. The paintball gun that is used to fire the balls is generally powered by carbon dioxide or other compressed gasses. The fascinating fact about this game is the number of variations that it can be played in. Some of the most common variations that this game is played in are X-ball, speed ball, and woods ball. Although the rules and regulations of this game vary depending upon the format that is adopted, one thing that is kept in mind is the safety of the players. Whatever the format of the game might be, the rules and regulations are made keeping in mind the safety of the players.

Paintball games are either played in the private lands or the commercial locations. When paintballing is done in a commercial location then it is well monitored and the players are taken well care of. In the private lands the paintballing could be fun but extra precaution needs to be taken as far as the safety of the players is concerned.

Who Are We? Why Are We Here? Where Did We Come From?

These questions have been asked for thousands of years and from the very beginning there have been men of knowledge and wisdom dedicating their life to find an answer. The resulting answers have come mainly from two different groups. The older and traditional one is presented by major religions claiming that there is a Creator who created human beings to pursue a good life and join Its essence after death. The other one is a modern thought, known as Darwinism, claiming that human beings were the result of a natural evolutionary process from lower species. They die after their span of life and disappear into the nature as any other species. For decades the Darwinists have tried to relate their theory to a scientific explanation which is still the subject of heated debate. Of course, the religious community has no scientific base for its claim thus presenting it as a dogmatic religious belief, facts which should be accepted without doubt.

None of these groups have been able to answer the question reasonably, logically and conveniently acceptable. We know we are not holy beings, neither are we like other species. The certain fact is that we are intelligent, with consciousness and power of perception and far superior to all other species. But the question still remains to be answered: Who are we and why are we here?

It seems proper to have a brief look at the stories of creation and their interconnections, if any. Under Christianity, the story has been told in Bible by Genesis 1, believed to be written 7th to 5th centuries BCE, according to which the world was created in six days in the following order: heaven and earth, light, vault of heaven (separation of earthly and heavenly waters), seas and dry land, plants, sun and stars, fish and birds, land animals, and last humans. Interestingly, the Persian Zend-Avesta, the sacred book of Zoroastrianism, a powerful religion established about 1000 BCE, cites the creation in the same order. The order of creation in Egyptian mythology, which would surely have been familiar to the writers of the Genesis, is ocean, sun, atmosphere, earth, and sky.[1] There are a great deal of contradictions about the creation in Bible as told in Genesis 1, such as Genesis 2, Ps 74: 13-17, and Ps 89:10 which are not the subject of our discussion here. We will look at the Genesis 1 for the purpose of our discussion. The Koran, the holy book of Islam, which is considered by devout Moslems coming directly from God as revealed to the Prophet Mohammad, in 7th century AD, refers to the biblical creation story. Sura 11 verse 6: "Throned above the waters, he made the heavens and earth in six days."

The fall of Adam is quite similar to a Persian myth, established centuries before, in which Ahriman, or Angra Mainyu (The spirit of darkness and evil), acting through a serpent, causes the first man to fall into knowledge of good and evil. Variations of this story can be also found in a variety of myths of the Middle East. There are carvings showing a man, a woman, a serpent, and a tree. The "Tree of Knowledge" or "Tree of Life" is an almost universal element of mythology in the Middle East.[2]

In sharp contrast to the concept of creation cited in Genesis and other sources, there are those who believe in the evolutionary process of the creation based on, in their opinion, well established scientific and historical facts. The theory of evolution, in brief, consists of the gradual change in species of plants and other living creatures, starting with a very primitive single-celle life form and proceeding to advanced stages of life including humans. According to this concept, apes and humans have had common ancestors.[3] According to the scientific community:

1. The life of the planet has been estimated between four to five billion years, in contrast to a few thousand years under the Genesis and other religious creation stories.

2. Life first appeared about 3.5 billion years ago, around a billion years after the formation of the planet, while, according to Genesis 1 story, plants appeared in the third day, sea life and birds on the fifth, animals and humans on the sixth.

3. The first primates, apparently with some human characteristics, appeared in East Africa some million years ago, and genus Homo in about 1.7 million years ago, followed by the appearance of modern humans in around 200,000 to 500,000 years ago. According to the Genesis, humans appeared in Mesopotamia about 6,000 years ago

4. The life form actually appeared in the following order: sea-dwelling life, land plants, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals, which is quite different from the Genesis account.

Many Christian authorities believe that the creation story in Genesis is absolutely true; that God created the world, its life forms, and the rest of the universe in one continual six-day act of creation. But they have developed conflicting ideas about the date of the creation. It ranges from 3615 to around 6,000 BCE in contrast to 4.5 billion years estimated by the scientists.[4]

The precise meaning of the day has long been debated among religious authorities. It is believed that the creation happened in six intervals of time, each defined by the Hebrew word "Yom"which is generally translated as "day." This time interval has been defined differently by various groups. Some believed it was just a standard 24-hour day; for some others, it was a 24-hour day but each day separated by a very long time interval; yet, some believed definitely in six long intervals each considered as one day.[5]

In the light of enormous scientific evidence, there is no doubt that the universe including our planet was not created at once but through a long process of evolution before the presence of human beings. The claim that God created the universe in six days, if true, certainly does not refer to a 24-hour day on planet Earth, because it did not exist at the time of creation. A day consists of a one rotation of the planet around itself. So, the length of a day depends on the size of the planet and the speed of its rotation. Thus, it is different for each planet. Since no planet existed at the time of creation it seems proper to consider the term day mentioned in the Genesis to refer to some extraterrestrial time frame which may amount to billions of terrestrial years. If we apply this assumption to the length of the days of creation mentioned in various holy scriptures then the story of creation within six days would appear quite reasonable since it would be compatible with the theory of evolution extending to some thirteen billion years.

A new, more logical and rational theory goes even beyond the evolutionary theory of Big Bang and thereafter, according to which the universe was set up as an experimentation by the Creator, a totally secular being like a super-scholar, to examine certain hypotheses. Considering that energy is the source of life, the essence of the Creator consists of Pure Energy thus the ultimate level of life, matterless, super-intelligent and creative with no gender. The universe was created long before the Big Bang and proceeded afterward through evolution as well as creation side by side. Some species developed through evolution, some others by creation when the material and non-material environment became favorable, yet some others became extinct when they could not survive under the existing environment.

Accordingly, human beings were created, not directly by the Creator but as a result of the experimentation when the environment became suitable for their creation, more likely, after all other beings were created. Like all other creatures, they were also created in successions in different time intervals in different parts of the planet. When a better environment was produced, it gave birth to a new and more advanced human beings with higher intelligence, while some old ones became extinct. Look at the variety of the monkeys , horses, dogs and cats in different parts of the world. They were created in different parts of the planet under different atmospheric and physical environment and for this reason they are different from one another in physical appearance, quality and behavior. Exactly the same applies to the creation of human beings. They were not created in Africa and then migrated to other parts of the world; they were created in different parts of the planet in different time intervals and different from one another.

The initiation of the experimentation started a billion or more years before the Big Bang, in a space designated by the Creator where It created high energy substance as Pure Matter. The moment this matter was created, so was the time and space. Therefore, the life of the universe is much longer than what is presently assumed.[6] This is where we come from.

Who are we? In the Islamic holy book Koran, referring to the creation of man, God says "congratulate Allah for the best of Its creations." (Fatabarakallah ahsanul khalegheen.) Similar statements are found in both Jewish and Christian holy books of Thora and Bible, to the effect that God created human on Its own image. The energy being the source of life, higher energy would mean a higher level of life which at certain level would include intelligence. The Creator being the ultimate source of energy possesses the ultimate level of intelligence and creativity expanding to infinity because of being matterless. Humans are the only creatures sharing this high level of intelligence with the Creator. The locus of this intelligence is the human mind also referred to as human spirit or soul. The brain is different from the mind. It is the place the mind resides and control the body. The mind is non-material and capable of expanding anywhere within the sphere of the universe without leaving the human brain where it resides. It creates a link between the humans and the Creator and certainly is created in Its image and thus is the best of its creations. But still it should not be forgotten that the creator did not create human beings but their creation was one of the outcomes of Its experimentation in creating the universe.

Why are we here? It seems reasonable and logical to think that the Creator's purpose from the creation of universe was to find out to what extent billions of differently degraded matters including living creatures in different planets, planets, solar systems, galaxies and so on, can advance themselves toward their origin which is the Pure Energy, the matterless essence of the Creator. Among all these creatures human beings seem to have Its most attention likely because of being the best of Its creations with capability of establishing mental link to Its essence. We already know that through the evolution and the creation of better beings, including more intelligent humans, the world has been progressing to a better stage and the human intelligence has been instrumental in discovering knowledge necessary or helpful in advancing human beings in their individual qualities and causing better societies, living and spiritual environment for themselves. The expectation seemingly is to see to what extend human being can advance themselves in reaching the ultimate quality of life within the essence of the Creator. This stage is reached when individuals become able to contact the Creator through transcendence and realize the vision of their destiny in reaching the destination which is nothing but to become matterless as the Creator.[7] This is why we are here and all this has nothing to do with religion which is a human creation and nothing in it relates to the Creator who is a totally secular being.

Why Should We Give Thanks in Times Like These?

According to History.com, the first Thanksgiving took place in Massachusetts during the Pilgrim Settlers second winter in America in December 1621. The first winter had killed 44 of the original 102 colonists. And because an unexpected trading vessel arrived, and swapped beaver pelts with them for corn, they were able to survive. Since next summers crops brought hope, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast on December 13, 1621, which is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. Although this feast is considered to be the very first Thanksgiving celebration, it was actually in keeping with a long tradition of celebrating the harvest and giving thanks for a successful bounty of crops. The Pilgrims gave thanks to God for helping them find acres of land that had no hostile Indians and for newfound religious freedom. They also celebrated with the friendly Indians who brought wild turkeys and venison with them. As well as prayers, sermons and songs of praise. They spent three days feasting and praying. Since that time, Thanksgiving is a celebration of thanks of gratitude to God for His grace and mercy upon us. And President Lincoln officially set aside the last Thursday of November in 1863, "as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father." In 1941, Congress ruled that after 1941, the fourth Thursday of November be observed as Thanksgiving Day and be a legal holiday.

But why should we give thanks in times like these today? It is true that in today's society, some of us may think we don't have much to be thankful for. From loss of jobs, homes, cars and possessions, what's left? From the fall of Wall Street, the never ending war and the bad economy, why should we still be thankful to God? 1 Thessalonians says, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." This means, no matter what we may go through, good or bad, God will always make a way for us. Even at our darkest time or hour, God will always turn a negative into a positive, if we only believe and trust in Him. Even in the book of Exodus, the Israelites sang a song of thanksgiving as they were delivered from Pharoah's army after they crossed the Red Sea. And the book of Psalms is full of songs of thanksgiving for God's grace to the Israelite people as well as for His individual graces to each of us.

In this life there will always be things to complain about. But God gave us a choice. Do we choose to be positive or negative? Is the glass half empty or full? No matter how grim our situations may be, there will always be something to be thankful for. Did we live to see another day? Do we have our health and strength? Are our families ok? Do we have clothes, food and shelter? If we only believe and trust in God, He will give us our needs and not necessarily our wants. For Romans 8:28-30 says, "For those who know Christ, God also works everything together for good, even events we would not necessarily consider good." May God grant that He may find us grateful everyday for all gifts- spiritual and material.

Make Someone's Day!

When someone compliments me, it can make my day! I bet it's that way for you, too. Think back to a time when someone gave you a genuine compliment. Can you feel those warm fuzzies? But wait. Maybe you can't remember the last time you actually received a compliment. I've found there are people all around us who seem to have forgotten how to give compliments. Then again, maybe they never knew how in the first place. Sad, isn't it.

Knowing how good a compliment makes me feel makes me eager to do the same for others. It's my goal to give a compliment to every person I meet, and in fact, I work very hard at this. I'm not telling you this to brag on myself, and I don't want you to think I'm some brown-noser who uses compliments to manipulate people into doing whatever I want. No way! Tat is not what giving a compliment is about. Compliments must be given sincerely, in a spirit of thoughtfulness and caring, from a true desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others. This doesn't come naturally, but with a little effort you can learn how. Start by observing others closely, waiting to catch them doing somethingor being someoneyou sincerely admire. Then, be willing to "expose" your observations to that person.

The best way to give a compliment is to be sure you always back it up with evidence. Here's an example: "You are so great with kids!" (Now most people would stop there, but you need to give some evidence.) "They are so well behaved whenever you are in charge. I think it's because they can tell how much you care about themand I loved the game you taught them to help them wait patiently in line. You are so creative and fun. no wonder kids love you.

You'll be amazed at the results, when you make giving compliments a part of your daily life. So go aheadmake someone's day! Oh, and by the way, the best way to receive a compliment it to simply say, "Thank You!

Habits To Prevent Losing Things

Rethinking Today's Religions - Misleading Our Children

When I was a young man, my parents told me about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Every Christmas, there would be presents underneath the tree from Santa Claus and on Easter I would get a basket full of candy and eggs. However, when I was 11 years old, my parents broke the devastating news to me, there was no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny.

As you can imagine, I cried for hours over the frustration and disappointment. For one, I thought that I wasn't going to get any more Christmas gifts, but my parents provided me with the needed psychological relief and told me that they were going to provide Christmas gifts for me, until I died. Even though I was upset, I was relieved and confused.

If my parents lied about this, could they have possibly lied about something else, anything else. Have you ever thought about this and is there a situation in your life today that could be an old habit that never got corrected. Some theme that your parents told you when you were a child that was a lie and they never told you the truth. Maybe they never told you the truth because they don't even know themselves that it's a lie.

Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny were obviously disappointments to me and most people that I've talked to about their experiences, with their parents and even their children. Why do we do this as parents to our children, even though we didn't like it when it was done to us. Hard to explain why we can't break certain habits and certain traditions.

I love Christmas and the joy of giving. Even though I am no longer a Christian, I enjoy going over to my relatives homes and spending Christmas or Christmas Eve with them. Now for the bad news, if you were raised to believe in Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism or any other large religious organization. Let me ask you this, do you think that it could be like Santa Claus, do you think the religion you believe in so strongly could be a story that has gotten out of control over the centuries.

I've spent a life time rethinking today's religions and can't find very many facts to prove any one religion is superior over another. Do your own research and find your own answers. Enlightenment could be as simple as gathering the right information.

Religious Fundamentalism Can Create Problems

Religious groups can easily justify their actions by using religious text to benefit and promote their beliefs. The Muslims can sling quotes out of the Quran to justify their treatment towards women as second-class or even third class citizens in society, often removing certain rights from them because they weren't born men.

Shouldn't these women be treated equally. This is where religious fundamentalism evolves into religious fanaticism.

Christians can often use the same tactics to justify their beliefs and Christianity. This list goes on and on and has created hardships in the past on some people in our civilizations and will continue to do so in the future. As long as people continue to turn a blind eye to evil religious and government leaders, atrocities will take place and some of them will even be supported by those who eventually will become accused are victims of their own wrongdoings.

Does anyone remember the Ku Klux Klan? If you live in the south eastern part of the United States, there is a very good chance that you have heard of them or even know someone who belongs to this organization. The Ku Klux Klan was responsible for hanging African Americans throughout the early 1900s to prove that the white race was superior to the race of black people. Their religious beliefs fueled them with righteousness.

If this going on anywhere in the world today, may be issues about abortion or gay marriage. It seems like an oxymoron, if we allow gay people to get married, we won't have to worry about the abortion issue.

Some Christians, but most Americans look at this as a shameful part of our American heritage. It's not something that most Americans would ever support today. I would like to point something out about the Ku Klux Klan, they started out as a Christian organization and made examples out of other white people who weren't conforming to their ideal Christian society.

There are stories of people that abused their wives and the Ku Klux Klan set them straight, one way or another. If it required beating the crap out of them or killing them, something needed to be done and they are morally obligated to perform the task as Christians. These people took their Christian beliefs to an extreme.

When are we as a country and the world going to start fighting religious fundamentalism at its core and stop the atrocities that are going on today, using religion to justify their wrongdoings.

Is Jesus The Only Way To Heaven

Imagination

Hold on to your hat, you are about to take an incredible ride!! If used properly, imagination is one of the greatest tools that you can use. In your imagination, anything is possible and there is absolutely nothing that cannot be imagined. The fantasy book authors, who have spent hours in fantasy places, creating every detail and every aspect, have imagined some of the greatest and wildest places in fiction. All kinds of characters,
people, and creatures have been created to inhabit these fictional places.

Whole kingdoms and whole planets have been invented for you to explore. Movies, plays, books, television shows, media events, stage shows, theme parks, dvds,
audio cassettes, board games, electronic games, puzzles,
toys, and sometimes a combination of several of these have
all been vividly imagined and created in every detail.
When you enter into these kingdoms through the
authors guidance, you also explore them through your
imagination, so that no two experiences are exactly alike.

You can use your imagination for great adventures, great
encounters, fantastic stories, love stories, poetry,
building a special house or special property, designing or
inventing something that has never been done before, or
making something that already exists even better. From
the tiniest piece of intricate machinery, to the most
colossal awesome machine, it was first imagined in someones
mind. She or he believed in that vision enough to figure out how to make it a reality and then she or he worked diligently
until her or his imagination was taking place in the earthly realm.
Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, and electricity.

Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. Charles Drew
found a way to preserve and store blood, and he created
the worlds first blood bank.
Frederick McKinley Jones invented a way to add sound to
movies, which revolutionized the movie industry; he also
created cooling units for trucks and trains to keep food
cool in transportation. All through their own imagination
and work that went on before them. They imagined something in their minds first and they worked diligently to bring that imagination into the physical realm. They
were not deterred because it didnt work the first or second
or even third time; the whole process, or the end product,
was pictured very clearly in their minds.

Harry Potter was a
character invented and nurtured in one womans mind, now she
has written several books about him and there have been
several movies created about that one character and all his adventures.
Imagination lets you fly above the trees and soar
out over the water. It allows you to go further than is possible or ever dreamed of before. You can talk with kings and queens, you can go into the past or the
future, you can speak in foreign languages, or you can
invent a language. You can create brand new colors,
you can go to another planet, or down under the water.

Your imagination can be bright, big, dark or
foreboding. Where there is light there is dark, where there is up there is down, male and female, good and evil.

Everything has a dimension and substance in your
imagination. Try it yourself and see
where it takes you. Allow yourself a rich and
active imagination. But dont get stuck in the
fearsome side of your imagination; if you created it in
your mind you can un-create it too, and you can create
good and positive protectors in your mind to take care
of you. You can create a new picture in your mind to
replace a piece of imagination that may have scared you.
You can change the focus and change the outcome all with
a thought. You dont have to settle for the same thing in
your mind all the time; you can change your thoughts
at any time. You can create the life that you imagine,
right now, with your thoughts and actions. Every new
thought can progress you towards your dreams.

The world is wide open for you, my dear. Just imagine
what you can do, where you can go, who you can meet, and
then enjoy the journey.
